For all of you wonderful writers, editors, authors, agents and writers who think that bookstores will not return a signed copy of a book … think again!!!
The photo above is living proof that some bookstores will return ANYTHING, any book whether signed or dinged or damaged. Autographed or not. A brick and mortar bookstore can keep a book for as long as they like in many cases, depending on the distributor, and return it at any time for repayment.
Bookstores do not BUY books, they order them in hopes that readers will come into the store and buy them. This consignment system has been around since WWII, and it is antiquated and silly. Bookstores return books and they will return yours even if you sign it. Beware!
