Koehler Books is pleased to announce the sponsorship of the Tidewater Piranhas, a member of the Tidewater Power Soccer Association. Players use special power wheelchairs with a metal grill attached to pass and move an over-sized soccer ball around the indoor court. The players all have some form of physical disability, such as spina bifida, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, and more.
“These guys and gals on the Piranhas are the real deal,” says Koehler Books President John Koehler. “They are competitive and very talented. Off the court they require help and are dependent on others. But on the court they rule and drive like NASCAR stars. Fully functional and totally in control. They are awesome!”
Koehler Books is also heading up a fundraising campaign to raise money for new wheelchairs and equipment for the Piranhas. Each power chair costs $6000.

Koehler also formed the Piranha-Eating Terminators, an opposing team to play the Piranhas on June 16, high noon at the Virginia Beach Field House. “We are the foil team, the crazy Arnold Schwarzenegger loving guys who are coming to put down the Piranhas, once and for all.*”
*Spoiler alert: the Piranhas will crush the Terminators. There will be loud lamentations and gnashing of teeth.
