Jim Zervanos is the author of Love Park, available on Amazon. His book, That Time I Got Cancer: A Love Story, will be available for preorder this summer. Below is his letter to the publisher.
Dear John (Here’s the letter I’m sending out to family and friends! Rock and Roll…),
I’m excited to share great news with you about my new book That Time I Got Cancer: A Love Story.
First, when LOVE Park was published in 2009, it was an amazing experience. I was featured on the front page of The Philadelphia Inquirer; Philadelphia Magazine called the novel “Smart, insightful”; and Michael Smerconish interviewed me on his radio show. In the summer of 2011, when the book was truly capturing momentum, I got sick.
My condition was considered fatal, before a brilliant surgeon performed a radical operation; then I was diagnosed with lymphoma, which led to chemotherapy and an uncertain road to recovery. Eventually I got back to writing, and now, more than a decade later, I’m about to publish my memoir of that experience.
I’m emailing you today to ask for your help—to be a part of my friends-and-family social-media campaign to boost my visibility online—for now, with LOVE Park…and then, this summer, with the launch of That Time I Got Cancer: A Love Story.
Here’s how you can help:
Write a review of LOVE Park on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Love-Park-Jim-Zervanos/dp/1934980633). It’s possible that you can write an Amazon review only if you’ve purchased the book there, so if you must purchase a copy, I owe you one, BIG-TIME. If you’ve already reviewed LOVE Park, thank you!
If you know someone who has a book club (or a book store), let them know about LOVE Park—and about That Time I Got Cancer: A Love Story—and let me know about them.
Follow me on Instagram, friend me on Facebook, and connect with me on LinkedIn. “Like” my posts and comment; then share my posts with your friends. If you’re really feeling the LOVE, post a picture of yourself with LOVE Park, comment, and tag me.
Advance copies of That Time I Got Cancer: A Love Story will be available for pre-sale in July and will be published by Koehler Books in October. I’ll be in touch with you along the way to let you know when there’s an opportunity for you to help me spread the word.
I’m grateful for your friendship and support and can’t wait for you to read the new book. I want to share my story not only because I think readers will enjoy it but also because I believe it can bring hope and relief to people facing challenging illness.
Please share this email with friends and family. If you have ideas on how to reach readers, let me know. I’d love to hear from you.
