Dear John (Here’s the letter I’m sending out to family and friends! Rock and Roll…),
I’m excited to share great news with you about my new book That Time I Got Cancer: A Love Story.
First, when LOVE Park was published in 2009, it was an amazing experience. I was featured on the front page of The Philadelphia Inquirer; Philadelphia Magazine called the novel “Smart, insightful”; and Michael Smerconish interviewed me on his radio show. In the summer of 2011, when the book was truly capturing momentum, I got sick.
My condition was considered fatal, before a brilliant surgeon performed a radical operation; then I was diagnosed with lymphoma, which led to chemotherapy and an uncertain road to recovery. Eventually I got back to writing, and now, more than a decade later, I’m about to publish my memoir of that experience.
I’m emailing you today to ask for your help—to be a part of my friends-and-family social-media campaign to boost my visibility online—for now, with LOVE Park…and then, this summer, with the launch of That Time I Got Cancer: A Love Story.
