The World Beyond the Redbud Tree
by Madison C. Brightwell
The World Beyond the Redbud Tree is a utopian fantasy about how the world could be if only different choices had been made. It is at once a Rite of Passage book; a Time Travel historical fantasy book; and a commentary on today’s society and how it could be improved and changed. Our heroine, 16-year-old Charli, is an everywoman figure, who represents all that is lost, scared and disconnected about our world. When she discovers the harmonious world of the Q’ehazi people, Charli longs to become a part of it. But first she must face challenges, both inner and outer, as she fights to keep the Q’ehazi’s safe from the evil Sean, while at the same time struggling to attain the State of Grace that is the key to acceptance.
