If you’ve come to this page then you are most likely a writer. Thank you for sharing your words with the world. It is critical that you do this as an active form of self-expression for your own sake and for the sake of the world to receive it as art. Everyone has the right to write, and we salute you for taking advantage of that right.
The Writer’s Rights are meant to be inspirational and encouraging, and are a reminder to writers of their right to write and also their call to do it well. Do your best to get it right and learn your craft well. Take classes, join writer’s groups. Most importantly, practice your craft! Even when you have writer’s block, practice your craft. Let nothing stop you.
The Writing Guide is intended as a guide for beginners who are thinking about writing a memoir or biography. It is not comprehensive or intended as a stand alone, but simply as an encouragement with some basic ideas of how to get started and get it done.
The Design Guide is also a very simple tool that may help you to think about your book from a design standpoint. Whether you work with an Indie Publisher like us, self publish or get a big publisher, you will need to deal with some issues of design as it relates to your cover and text. And hopefully your website.
Other Services covers some of the things we do to help writers create their manuscript and then strengthen it. Helping you create your writing voice is important and we can do that. An editorial evaluation may help you to think more strategically about your book, as it is crafted by our professional editorial team. Most of these items are a la carte, and may be individually selected by a client depending on their need.
Legacy Books refers to one of our publishing models. It is for writers who recognize that they are not destined for the NY Times Bestsellers list, but want to share their story and make it great. And who are willing and ready to pay for the services necessary to do that. This is not traditional publishing. It is publishing done as a service to please the author, their friends and family and yes, to sell some books. Some do well, but most will not, so it is critical for the author to come to the table with that understanding.
Everyone can write. Everyone can get published. But not everyone can sell a lot of books. That is decided purely on the quality of the story and how well it is received by that lovely group of people we love and desire: readers. So write first to please yourself. Do it well and using the highest standards of literature and do your very best. Then let it go and be happy to have shared your best with the world.
If your book doesn’t sell, the journey was still great and worth it. If it does sell well, that is the chocolate syrup on the ice cream. Your writing is the ice cream. Now…. good luck and get writing!
