My Life With Trains – Volume 2

Volume 2 is the continuation of the saga of American trains, as shown and told by Jim McClellan, a railroad expert. His outstanding photos mixed with recollections from inside the industry have created another jewel to add to your collection.
The author covers his graduation from college, through a brief period with the Navy, and then jobs with both the Southern Railway and the New York Central. His “best of times” at the Southern was quickly offset by the “worst of times,” as American railroads imploded across their passenger service and mainlines.

Jim McClellan has been a railroader for more than four decades and a railfan even longer. Riding trains, photographing trains, modeling trains—all were passions at a very early age. During his railroad career he was involved in some of the major events of the past fifty years: the bankruptcy of Penn Central, the creation of Amtrak and Conrail, the creation of Norfolk Southern, and the split of Conrail between NS and CSX. His career got a lot of attention in the book by Rush Loving Jr., The Men Who Loved Trains.

Now a Vice President for Woodside Consulting, he continues to be involved in the industry and gives numerous speeches dealing with both the past and the future of the railroad business. Jim has a number of hobbies; he is a painter, he models railroads, and he has been a passionate boater for years (both sail and power). Now, he spends much of his time traveling the world, photographing people, places and animals (and trains).
