Brooklyn Girl

Brooklyn Girl

Brooklyn Girl is the story of a teenage girl who is so defiant and anti-authority, that she runs away from home, only to become enveloped in a world filled with drugs, alcohol, sex, and violence. Lonnie lives with her drug addict mother and senile grandmother, where there is little to no supervision in her life. When her father intervenes and tries to straighten her out, she quickly burns her bridges with him too. Turning to drugs and alcohol, her life soon becomes a nightmare filled with torment, despair, hopelessness, and troubled times. When her life becomes unmanageable, she realizes that the people she pushed away are the people she needed most.

Ronald Belfort is a Brooklyn, New York native and an active duty member of the United States Armed Forces. For almost two decades he lived in San Diego, California where he penned his fiction novel, Brooklyn Girl. Much of his work is rooted in his personal experiences, challenges and Brooklyn upbringing. When not writing, he can be found painting portraits and abstract works of art, obsessing over motorcycles or watching home improvement shows. He attended the University of La Verne, California, and graduated with a master’s in business. Today, he lives and works in Kapolei, Hawaii, with his wife and two-year-old twins. While he enjoys island life, he often misses the fast pace and diverse neighborhoods back in Brooklyn.
